We all aim to be conscious of our calorie in-take, but it’s difficult when our stomach is sending us signals saying it needs to be filled. Luckily, there are a number of foods that can give us the feeling of satiety without all of the associated carbs, calories, and fats. Below are some of the best choices.

One great food for keeping you full for a long, long time is white potatoes. Sure, they pack a serious amount of carbs, but a potato in your stomach will satisfy feelings of hunger for longer than just about any other food. Cook them simply, by steaming or baking them, and avoid excess fat.

To start your day with a meal that will keep you feeling satisfied until lunch, opt for a bowl of hot oatmeal. Oats have a number of heart-healthy benefits aside from just being filling. Try your morning oats with chopped nuts for a boost of protein.

Beans are an excellent and affordable way to satisfy your hunger, because they are high in fiber. In addition, they don’t pack a heavy calorie load, and take some time to digest, leaving you satiated for hours. (Polite eaters may want to take a gas remedy before a meal.)

If you’re looking for a filling snack that’s super low in calories, opt for popcorn. It’s exceptionally full of fiber and flavor, and just perfect for between-meal noshing that will keep you going for hours.

A focus on fresh, sustainable local food has made Butterhead Greens Café a favorite spot for Savannah diners. Rave reviews abound for their small but yummy menu of offerings, nice prices and speedy service. A fave is the Sustainable Sammy, a house-made veggie patty with spinach, roasted tomatoes, gruyere cheese and basil aioli served on fresh bread. Also popular is the Senor Guapo with sliced roast pork tenderloin, smoked ham, spicy pickles and swiss cheese. Some tasty sides, salads and soups round out the menu. As phone cameras have become more advance, more and more individuals are using them to remember life’s little day-to-day moments. If you're a budding smartphone photographer at NSB Kings Bay Homes and you'd like to improve the quality of your pictures, here are a few useful tips to make them even better.

Check to make certain that your phone camera settings align with the available light in the room. Usually the flash on a cell phone camera is not very strong, so low-light photographs typically don’t do well. Also consider the shutter speed – don’t expect to capture fast movement clearly with your phone.

A big advantage of digital photography is that you can snap multiple shots without having to worry about using up all your film or memory. Remember, the more images you take, the more likely you are to take a really good one. So, snap away, and delete the ones you don't like later.

Keep your lens clean. With the small size of most cameraphone lenses, it’s very easy for dirt to build up and interfere with your pictures. Give your lens a quick once-over with a soft cloth, and enjoy clearer, brighter images immediately!

Who doesn't adore soaking up some warm rays while listening to the water gently lap at the shore? If you’re like most people, you love spending time on a serene beach in the summer sun. The next time you’re thinking about a beach vacation away from NSB Kings Bay Homes, consider checking out one of these awesome destinations.

	The Outer Banks, North Carolina

The Outer Banks are a lovely chain of barrier islands off of the coast of North Carolina, and have long been one of the most popular East Coast beach destinations. In general, The Outer Banks are renowned for their calm surf and great swimming conditions, as well as for the variety of great activities offered – horseback riding on the beach, hang gliding, and a variety of water sports. You can also tour shipwrecks, visit the famous Currituck Beach Lighthouse, or make a fascinating trek to the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kill Devil Hill.

	Miami Beach, Florida

If you've never been, you must know that Miami Beach is popular with people from all walks of life – well-moneyed vacationers, the 20-something party crowd, families with kids, and folks just looking for a low-key and relaxed getaway. Miami's white sand beaches are gorgeous, and the warm Atlantic water offers wonderful opportunities for recreation, including kayaking and surfing. In addition, there are great restaurants, fabulous shops, and outstanding spas in the area, as well as more serious cultural offerings like the Bass Museum and the Holocaust Memorial.

	Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach is just a short drive from historic Charleston, SC, and it’s a popular East Coast hotspot for beachgoers. The area has everything — large resorts at reasonable prices, opportunities for boating, myriad watersports, and snorkeling and scuba diving. It's also a great choice if you’re looking to include some golfing in your vacation getaway, since the area boasts over a hundred high-quality golf courses. If you’ll be traveling with kids, make sure to visit the area’s hugely popular Family Kingdom Amusement Park.

	San Diego, California

San Diego is a destination that lets you enjoy the surf and sand while also partaking in an array of urban attractions that are also close by. The region is famous for its amazing weather, ever-sunny skies, vividly blue ocean water, and bright white-sand beaches. The opportunities for watersports are endless, and when you’ve had your fill of the beach, you can head out to great cultural and recreational offerings like the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla and SeaWorld San Diego. Also, the area offers wonderful hiking, walking, and running trails, like the hugely popular trails at the Torrey Pines State Reserve.

	U.S Virgin Islands

This glorious Caribbean destination offers you a fabulous combination of remote peacefulness and bustling culture. You can revel in relaxing on the quiet and expansive beach, engage in fun watersports like parasailing, snorkeling, and jet skiing, or wander the shops and wonderful restaurants. If you’re a history buff, you’ll enjoy learning about the colonial past of the U.S Virgin Islands, since there are ample opportunities for exploring the historical background of the area. There are three islands you can visit, each with its own unique flair – St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. Why not visit all of them while you’re there?

With vegetarian diets becoming more mainstream and more and more non-vegetarians opting for “meatless Mondays," it’s worth acquainting yourself with a staple food of the vegetarian diet – tofu. Some may cringe at the mere sound of the word, but if prepared correctly, this versatile protein can be quite delicious and satisfying. If you’re new to cooking tofu, start with a few basic tips to help you prepare tofu easily right in your kitchen at NSB Kings Bay Homes.

Use firm or extra firm tofu
Use firm or extra firm tofu for most recipes, so that it holds-up while cooking. Before cooking, slide and press it for 10-15 minutes with a brick, a stack of books, or a pan filled with water to squeeze out excess water.

	Safety first!
Steam raw tofu for 5 minutes to kill any bacteria before adding it to any uncooked dish, like a salad or a sandwich.

	Add some flavor
Use spices like ginger, cumin, or curry or marinate in soy sauce or your favorite dressing to add some interest to this mild protein.

	Tofu is a chameleon
It can be baked, fried or steamed. Try adding fried tofu to pasta with sautéed veggies and top with pesto and cheese, or serve baked tofu with couscous or rice and a salad for a healthy option. Or enjoy fried tofu on a whole wheat roll with lettuce, tomato, and mayo for a hearty lunch or add steamed tofu to a fresh vegetable stirfry for dinner.

When it comes to dinner, we can get stuck in a rut, making the same things over and over again. If you’re looking to increase your repertoire, without increasing the work or time involved, why not go for a one-dish dinner? Below is some one-dish inspiration to get your culinary wheels spinning:

	Stir-Fry
This one-dish meal is a great way to bring new life to plain old veggies and chicken. Sauté your chosen ingredients in some cooking oil, and give them an Asian flair with garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Garnish with chopped scallions and you’re good to go!

	Casserole
Casseroles have gotten a bad reputation over the years, but these one-dish dinners were a staple for a reason. Relying on hearty ingredients and rich flavors, casseroles are the ultimate one-dish meal. To make them a bit more nutritious, add in extra veggies and replace some of the cream with chicken broth.

	Quiche
Though it can seem complicated, quiche is actually quite simple to prepare, and make for an impressive dinner. Sauté some vegetables, like mushrooms and onions, and add in some cooked chicken sausage. Line a pie dish with a store bought crust and add in your veggies and sausage and sprinkle with some cheese. Mix up some eggs and cream and pour them over top. Bake for 40 minutes at 375 degrees until golden brown on top.

	Salad
Don’t roll your eyes! A bountiful salad can be the perfect dinner when you’re looking for a lighter option. Put out an array of toppings – cheeses, meats, olives, nuts, chopped apple, raisins – and let everyone craft their perfect dish!
